After moving to the Latrobe Valley from Warragul following high school in 1993, I have developed a deep connection to the region. Through both employment and volunteering, my journey has continually centered on where I live and work.
My first job in Morwell was with Jacobus Computers on Commercial Road, the local Attache Software agent, which operated a retail showroom. My first volunteering experience in Morwell was at the Town Common, helping construct the Wooden Park. It was an incredible seven-day community effort involving local businesses, organisations, enterprises and residents working together towards a shared goal.
For the past 21 years, I have owned and operated Latrobe Valley Computers from Buckley Street, Morwell.
Through my work, I have had the privilege of supporting local residents, businesses and community organisations with their technology needs. These relationships have also enabled me to provide sponsorship and support to numerous community groups and sporting clubs. This experience has given me a practical understanding of the everyday challenges and opportunities faced by people across our region.
My long and active connection to the Latrobe Valley has shaped my appreciation for the people who live here and reinforced the importance of reliable services, respectful communication and community-focused decision-making to help create a future we can all be proud of.
I am currently an active member of several local community organisations, including:
- Yallourn North Primary School Council – since 2014, continuing to serve even after all three of my children have completed their schooling and moved out of home.
- Yallourn North Action Group – President since 2019.
- Advance Morwell – Member since 2019 and committee member since the 2023/24 AGM. Through this role, I have worked alongside local businesses and Latrobe City Council to help deliver the Merry Morwell Festival at the Town Common for the past two years, with planning already underway for a third year.
- Latrobe City Council Australia Day Advisory Committee – Member since 2020.
- Yallourn North Hall and Recreation Reserve – Joined in 2021 and currently serving as President, working closely with community members, Latrobe City Council, and the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action to strengthen and support this important community facility.
I am committed to continue to contribute to the ongoing success of where I live and work and ensuring our communities remain connected, vibrant and well supported for future generations.
